There are currently several positions
available in the Society of Inkwell Collectors. If you are interested
in one of them, or need more information, please contact
the SOIC. Remember, this is a volunteer organization, that only
works if people volunteer!!

Executive
Director
The Executive Director is the
chief executive officer of the Society of
Inkwell Collectors (SOIC) and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
operations of the SOIC. The Executive Director works with the Board
of Directors on SOIC strategy, and provides oversight to all SOIC
positions, committees, and activities. The Executive Director also
holds a position on the Board of Directors.
The Executive Director is approved by a vote
of the Board of Directors, and serves a 2-year term.
Required skills or qualifications:
- "people person"
- ability to long-range plan and set goals for the SOIC
- able to articulate the organization's purpose to different audiences
- accessible & responsive to general inquiries to the SOIC, via
methods such as phone, e-mail, and mail
- able to foster and support professional working relationships both
in and outside the SOIC
Preferred skills and experience:
- experience having led a department, business, or organization
- supervisory experience
Specific activities (include, but are not limited to):
- take general charge and control of business affairs and properties
- preside at all meetings of the Corporation
- preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors
- serve as ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee
- sign and execute all authorized bonds, contracts, or other obligations in the name of the Corporation
- monitor and reply to general SOIC inquiries (e-mail, mail, fax)
- provide a regular Executive Director column in "The Stained
Finger"
- Prepare and maintain Letters of Understanding for all formal volunteer positions
- provide oversight and guidance for volunteers
- directly oversee Awards nominations and voting procedures, and entire award process
[NOTE: some of these tasks would be assisted by the Secretary, when
the position is filled]
Compensation:
Position is non-paid at this time. (There are plans to make this a
paid position, timeline and salary not determined.)

Membership
Coordinator
The Membership Coordinator answers
questions from potential members about membership benefits,
processes new member applications, sends renewal requests once a
year, supplies mailing labels for The Stained Finger mailings,
and publishes the membership directory. Interested? Contact

Webmaster
Maintains and develops the SOIC
website, including (but not limited to) posting information about upcoming
events such as the Convention,
supporting other SOIC initiatives with a web presence, administering
the electronic Bulletin Boards, soliciting or creating new content,
monitoring usage statistics, and renewing domain names and hosting

Secretary
Takes notes at Directors meetings
and publishes these notes, helps develop and print agenda and takes notes
at General Membership Meeting, and helps with other administrative duties.

Donations
Coordinator
Solicits donations for research
projects the Society is involved in, and organizes inkwell donations
from Society
members to museums and exhibitions. Exact duties to be developed. Interested? Contact

Columnist, The
Stained Finger
"Dip Into History" column
sponsor. This person would be responsible for either researching and
writing the
column, or soliciting articles from other experts. Needed also is
a feature article writer who would be willing to write feature articles
about other SOIC members and their collections on a regular basis. Interested? Contact
