Former Director Jack Wiedabach's entire
inkwell collection of
over 2,000 inkwells and inkstands will be auctioned through Schrager
Auction Galleries Ltd. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
beginning March 9, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. CST. The sale will be on the
web, but bids are taken via fax or phone as well as online. Access
it by going to their website, and clicking on the Auction 188
link
(which
will be posted when all info is ready). Paper catalogs will be available
for $5, an electronic copy will be available for download at no charge,
and the collection can be pre-viewed in person for no charge. There
is a $20 bidding registration fee. More information is available on

Jack's collection was extensive, and was featured
in many articles in The Stained Finger and other popular antiques newspapers
and magazines (several found in the Library),
as
well
as
in
a
DVD
put
together
by the Wisconsin Antique Dealers Association. Visit the Store for

Charles "Buck" Van Tine Passes
Away (1-18-08)
Buck Van Tine, SOIC Executive Director from 2002 - 2007, passed away
Tuesday, Jan 15, having fought brain cancer since his diagnosis
in July (see his Executive Director's Message in the Summer 2007
issue of The Stained Finger). It is an understatement
to say that Buck's leadership and friendship will be missed by
many. His obituary,

results).
