The inkstand to the left is another
Wolcott Hull based design made by the Peck, Stow, and Wilcox Manufacturing
Company of Southington, Connecticut. The Hull tags are visible at
the bottom of the glass reservoir bottles. The
unusual feature of this inkstand is the pale green hue of the
milk glass reservoirs. Milk glass reservoirs are rare in PS&W
revolving inkstands, and green milk glass is even rarer. |
| The horizontally
revolving inkstand to the right was made by the Landers, Frary,
and Clark Company of New Britain, Connecticut. Like other LF&C
revolving inkstands, this one also has the brass bearings between
the glass reservoir and the metal axis pins about which the reservoir
rotates. When not in use,
the reservoir rotates around under a weighted lid, retained by
the frame, to minimize evaporation and pollution by dust. The
little cup on the other side (nearest in the picture to the right)
is a sponge cup. The moist sponge was used to clean the pen. |
